Handbag Fight ! (Editorial)

Whenever a number of people who are very proud of their respective achievements and are fiercely loyal to their own organisations, have differing opinions on the same subjects things can get interesting or get out of control ! Members of UK Direct who use the noticeboard have been witness to an extraordinary chain of comment over the last week or so. Handbags were drawn and battle commenced ! Now after the heat of debate has died down and people have been able to look at the issues from a less personal viewpoint the whole matter seems to be rightly put to rest. After all, anyone who puts in there own time, for whatever reason, to provide something of benefit to fellow flightsimmers deserves some slack. An individual or groups efforts my not be agreeable to everyone all of the time but we all share at least one common interest and can always be united by that.

Gary will be at the Flightsim Show !

Our Pilot100 (occasionally) - private joke, CEO and scenery maker par-excellence will be at the flightsim show in Birmingham on Saturday 4th November flogging his wares ! I for one will be there with me readies to procure the latest instalment of UK2000 - The South East. Use the link above or visit his Scenery pages for details. Should be a good day out !

Finney Air News !

We all know the saying " you can't keep a good man down.." well our Dave Finney just wont sit still for 5 minutes. He's been getting stuck in to online flying and controlling ! As well as running our successful holiday division, repainting anything that stays still for long enough, testing new aircraft air files and flying around the world he has had time to create a ferry flight for a DC-8 freighter and book all of the hotel accomodation, create the flight plans, and make up a nice snazzy web page to advertise the job ! Visit the information page and follow the link there to see for yourself.

Another manager that has been busy finding interesting work for his aircraft is World Cargo manager Jonathan Fenech. What with certain aircraft now flying out of Heathrow and new flights to some exciting distant places there should be something for everyone. A Tristar landing at Aberdeen ? Now that sounds like a challenge....( Well it would be for me ...ed.)

A Royal Air Force Pilot Remembers

This is, I believe, the title of a Squadron Leader Ollie Alderson's autobiography which is appearing in a digital flightsim magazine at www.flightmag.co.uk. Not only is this of interest to anyone who enjoys reading about real life and aviation but it is worth particular note that the gentleman referred to above is none other than our Pilot 176 Ollie !

Picture Time.

Do you have a nice screenshot that you think could grace this page ? Send it to me then ! However please don't send big fat 1.5Mb bitmaps, a nice slim 150Kb .jpg will do just as nicely.

Roster News.

Non-active pilots should note that although the roster is full at the moment the next vacancies advertised will be for their replacements unless they either get some hours logged or write to Mark to explain why they are unable to fly for us at the present time. Can't say fairer than that can you? After all it prevents really keen people from joining in on our success !

Engage brain a little more before writing - Please.

Now our General Manager Mark is a genuine helpful patient kind of chap but after sharing some of the mail he gets from people who really haven't thought hard enough about a 'problem' before they put finger to keyboard is frankly stunning.... I wouldn't dream of naming and shaming , we have all been confused by a task sometime or other but the answers are all out there somewhere and not just in Marks out-tray! I know that he is only to willing to help, but for instance, if you haven't really worked out how to download and install one of our aircraft correctly should you be attempting to fly our virtual passengers around the world just yet ? mmmm....

Crocodile Airways ?

Mark is asking for suggestions for an alternative name for a Isles of Scilly "SKYBUS" type service. He would like something snappy was the brief , so how about ....no, maybe not......Ideas to Mark please.

Admin Duties ?

Have you ever wondered what this involves when it appears next to a pilots name on the roster ? Pilot James 186 knows all about these and he has kindly submitted an article to enlighten us all ! Click Here.
