Editorial
If I wasn't mistaken then February turned out to be a business as usual. I've received an article or two from you lot out there and some nice pictures. If you are a regular reader of the News then you probably have noticed that generally, I have tried to maintain a clean wholesome page. For that reason I shall not be including the 'Screenshot' of Lovin' Lamb sent to me by email, which must be a limited company or similar as it apparently has 3 fully functioning 'offices', unless I miss read it? Strange.......
Right, without further ado, lets launch straight into the news and a brief summary of what has been going on behind the managerial screens whilst you, the pilots, have been playing third person shoot-em-ups instead of logging hours for your lovely 'loves you in that special virtual way' airline.
Yes.....Fleet News
The paint has been applied liberally around Exeter this month and some of it has stuck to our planes in all the right places. Dave Finney has been tidying up the FS98 new liveries before moving on to FS02. Nice work Dave.

World Cargo Tri-Star G-UKCA, Not sure if the fish tank was taken out...must ask
Fleet bloke.

Sh360F G-UKCC 'Athos' Not sure if the heater has been fixed...must ask Fleet bloke.
If any one has tried the FS02 DC10 version yet could they give Dave some feed back. Personally I couldn't get it to rotate below 210kts after 13,000 feet of runway, yet my Ladybird Book 'At the Airport' says that V1=147 KIAS, VR=162KIAS, and V2=178 KIAS, all at MTOW sea level , standard temperature and Flaps 15. Funny thing FS02, some things work brilliantly, others .........don't. I've spent hours downloading things that just don't work. I mean should a DHC6-300 move off and accelerate to 40 knots + at idle Mr. Blaisdale? - I must write and ask him. (Not a criticism, of his excellent freeware, but what is going on inside FS02?)
FS Traffic and Traffic Tools
FS02 users will know that FS Traffic is not (at present)
compatible with the new sim and many of you may be like me and keep seeing
references to a piece of software called Traffic Tools by Lee Swordy. Mark
Greenough has been delving into just what this utility is capable of and I
certainly found it very interesting. For this reason I am publishing Mark's
article in full. Just another great example of how willing others are to share
their experiences for the interest of others. Thanks Mark.

Smoke gets in your PC

Cough..splutter...must stop getting those cheap Turkish fags....
Following the creation of smoke files to make ageing polluting airliners more realistic Mark the boss asked the management to light up a few Woodbines and report the findings. Yes they certainly are smokin' but how real are we getting here? Should we encourage this sort of anti-social virtual behavior? How long will it be before we see the virtual toilet holding tank being emptied over the North Atlantic and marvel at the sight of ice encrusted ..... falling to earth? Oh if only I were a computer programmer......

Mmmm...the jury's still out on this one....What do you think?

Err...Great pic...who sent it?
Daniel Finney in " Carry On -Line"
Star of stage, screen and Vatsim, Daniel Finney's recent appearances online have been the endless source of apparent side splitting 'In VATUK house humour' to a select few. Only nothing funny has been said and no-one seems to be laughing. So perhaps the person that thinks it his place to say crass remarks on an open frequency, make an a.. of himself, digs his hole even deeper by following with more crass remarks might like to re-consider his position and write an apology to Dave. I'll gladly publish it for you all to read. If asked to. Dave Finney is probably one of the best ambassadors for online flight-simming and deserves better and I know he has a great sense of humour at the right time and in the right place. Dave is currently appearing in "Carry-On up the control tower" and "Confessions of an Air Traffic Controller".
And yes, I am in possession of the facts and some screenshots of the actual online conversation, should anyone wish to take anything up with me personally. If anything is really funny then I'll publish it and we can all laugh together.
The editor would like to state that he has spent many happy hours online and has always enjoyed friendly and courteous interaction with other pilots and controllers both on VATSIM and IVAO. Isn't that what it's all about? Great, lets move on then.
...and finally
Mark the boss received a nice letter from a chap looking to move on from his present employer at Bournemouth Airport (real world) asking if we had any suitable vacancies within our organisation. He has obviously been impressed since Gary (Summons) single handedly built our fabulous office block accommodation and seen our 717's and ERJ's flying in and out of the airport ????? Shurley shome mishtake.
